"Alice in Wonderland" Tickets On Sale Now!

Hudson Dance & Movement is presenting “Alice in Wonderland” as its annual Spring Concert

“Alice in Wonderland” will be performed in the Hoboken High School Theater on June 11, 2011 at 2:30pm. Artistic Director, Bethany Marc-Aurele and Associate Director, Laura Van Dyke, have adapted Lewis Carroll’s fanciful adventure into an inspired dance performance sure to captivate an audience of all ages.

The production will star Jersey City local and full-time HDM ballet student, Brianna M. as Alice. Ms. Marc-Aurele is very proud to have such a dedicated dancer in the role. As a Division I dancer in the Junior Professional Ballet Program, Ms. Massa attends ballet class and rehearsal four to five days every week. Ms. Massa and students in the Junior Professional Divisions are attending the August Course at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet this summer.

Other top HDM students and Hoboken residents Aliciana F., Sophia and Amelia G., Ella M., Natalie M., Carson N., and Isabella P.are all acting in featured roles. Through the skilled dancing of these students Alice (and the audience) will meet all of Carroll’s beloved characters: the Caterpillar, Tweedle Dee and Dum, the Mad Hatter, the furious Queen of Hearts and the illusive White Rabbit.

“Alice in Wonderland” will have 175 students performing. All of the dancers have trained at Hudson Dance & Movement for at least the 2010-2011 academic year. With all of the 300 HDM families expected in attendance, the staff anticipates the theater, seating 850, will fill rapidly.

The first two Spring Concerts presented by HDM were “Tour de Dance” (2009) and “Once Upon A Time…” (2010). Ms. Marc-Aurele and Ms. Van Dyke both strongly believe that performing is a key aspect to a complete, professional, dance education. The Directors are both very excited for the show and anticipate it will be the school’s most impressive concert to date.

Through this performance, Hudson Dance & Movement hopes that the local community sect of younger families and the High School will become closer in proximity. As the arts have a means to connect people across factions, this is believed to be a great opportunity for not only the students of HDM, but also the Hoboken community.

Hudson Dance & Movement provides professional dance instruction for toddlers up to adults. The school offers a comprehensive dance curriculum throughout the year with programs in Ballet, Creative Movement, Hip Hop, Modern, Musical Theater, Tap, and Preschool. The school recognizes each dancer as an individual and focus on improving their natural talents and abilities in a fun, encouraging and supportive atmosphere.
